Cancel Culture

The series examines cancel culture, which often operates without fair trials or due process. It highlights how individuals or groups can be judged and removed from public life based solely on opinions, without being allowed to defend themselves. Cancel culture erases everything —both positive and negative— leaving behind a void where diverse voices once thrived.

When cancel culture dismisses both the good and the bad, it raises a question: What if the language itself gets erased along the way? For instance, cancelling Russian as a language could lead to losing a rich cultural heritage, like Anna Akhmatova’s beautiful poetry. The artwork highlights this concern by stripping away letters, leaving only those shared by both Latin and Cyrillic alphabets. It’s a powerful reminder not to judge others solely based on appearances or differences.
